Formation Case Study

This was my three-line graphic narrative project. The goal of this project was to translate three lines of text into a single-page comic. Within the format, I identified the kind of text/image relationship appropriate for my storytelling and then built the surrounding panels. They will follow this with a formal color lesson to create a fully realized narrative.

The three lines of text I chose to utilize came from Beyoncé’s “Formation”. I felt that the social commentary surrounding the song at the time of its release gave me lots of material to work with. There were also lots of strong imagery that were tied to the song and I thought it would be helpful for me when trying to convey the story I was trying to tell.
